What is a limited residence permit?

A limited residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis) is a temporary residence permit contingent upon the purpose and expected duration of your stay in Germany, for example the duration of your employment contract. The Dresden Welcome Center issues residence permits on the basis of the German Residence Act (AufenthG) for the following purposes:

Doctoral studies and mobility
